Kevin JonesWe don’t need a running back!! Especially not someone the run-starved Lions just cut! Apparently there are twelve teams showing interest in former Detroit Lion Kevin Jones (581 yard, 8 TDs, 199 receiving yards, and 2 fumbles). You have to wonder why when Jones is more injury prone than my grandmother on skates and just as durable (sorry grandma)! He’s been in constant decline since his rookie season when he amassed an amazing 1,133 yards, 8 TDs and 2 fumbles. What’s amazing now is he hasn’t been above 700 yards since and was only averaging 3.8 yards per carry last season! As I mentioned earlier the Lions are desperate for a running game and obviously Jones was not good enough to give it to them, so why would the Eagles have an interest in him. Here’s what Jones had to say regarding the situation, “When the Lions drafted me, it came as a big shock, because they weren’t that much in the picture. It wasn’t my dream situation. It would be a dream, however, to play for the Eagles. Going back to Philly, with all my relatives and friends back there, that’s home to me. Chester will always be home to me. I have a real support system there in Philadelphia. Playing for the Eagles would be great.”

Then there is the crowded Eagles’ backfield to contend with. We have the most versatile and dangerous back in the NFL already in Brian Westbrook (1,333 yards, 7 TDs, 771 receiving yards, 5 TD receptions, and 1 fumble). Also we have one of the most determined backups in Correll Buckhalter (313 yards, 4 TDs, 0 Fumbles) who has come back from multiple supposed career-ending knee surgeries to give us two solid seasons and an astounding 5-yard per carry average in 2007! Then there is Tony Hunt (16 yards, 1 TD, and 0 fumbles), the Eagles’ second pick from last year’s draft, who only had ten rushing attempts. Maybe we need to spell out for the franchise; I’ll at least try, this may be difficult (NOT)!! Westbrook is Westbrook, give him the ball and watch him fly, give Buckhalter a few more carries (c’mon he’s averaging 5 yards per carry), and find a way to implement Tony Hunt when he learns how to pick up his blocking assignments!! There; that’s it; I did it! The last thing we want is some injury prone cap weight that’s not needed!! So, Jones I know you’re an area native and because of that we’ll welcome you back with open arms… When you retire!!
