It appears that Eagles’ sophmore quarterback Kevin Kolb has supplanted A.J. Feeley as the No. 2 QB, behind pro bowler Donovan McNab.
According to Eagles’ coach Andy Reid, “I’ve seen improvement [in Kolb] and right now he has a seasoned veteran ahead of him and behind him. He has a lot of knowledge there to draw from and learn from. He’s competing right now. That number two spot allows him to get a few more reps than what A.J. might get in the third spot.”
One way or the other, Kolb is already getting a ton of reps this off-season. According to Comcastsportsnet.com, Kolb’s “refinement has occurred expeditiously. Kolb even admits he’s already a much better quarterback than last year; he’s much more comfortable with the demands of Andy Reid’s offense.”
To his credit, Feeley is the consummate team player. “It’s not [disappointing if I am the No. 3],” he said. “You’re part of a team, and that is all you could ask for. It’s not that your ambitions or wants go away, it’s just that everyone has a role on the team and you play it.”
Not to mention that just because he’s No. 3, it doesn’t mean he won’t see some action. “Even if I was the No. 3, look at how many threes came in this season. The Vikings used their No. 3, three different times. So you have to be ready for that and prepare as if you’re going to be playing.”
It’s that kind of attitude that makes Feeley such an asset to the Eagles. Situated between the talent of McNab and the attitude of Feeley, Kolb is in a perfect position to become a serious star in the NFL.
