The Eagles announced yesterday that two of their offensive players would be moving to different positions during camp this summer.

Offensive Tackle Winston Justice was shifted to offensive guard and fullback Dan Klecko, former Temple Owl, was shifted to defensive tackle on an already crowded defensive line. The move to tackle for Klecko came only days after the Eagles traded for Klecko’s former Colt teammate Luke Lawton.

The Birds are trying anyway to find Justice a spot not only on the field but on this team. Honestly, he is in danger of losing a roster spot if he doesn’t have a strong camp simply because he did not have a good showing versus the Giants last season and could be expendable come roster cut time.

Klecko, who has stated in recent media reports, that he enjoys being on the defensive side of the football more than the offensive side so the move for him shouldn’t be as difficult as it would be for anyone else. Klecko is a big body that the Eagles might not be able to afford to release when cut time rolls around. He could improve a struggling kick coverage team from last season as a member of the Special Teams unit.

Coming out of USC Justice looked as though he would be a good fit in the Eagles plans at offensive line down the road but after his performance last season against the Giants the coaching staff is now looking for different ways to get his big body on the field without having him get run over from snap to snap.

Justice has been talking to offensive guard Todd Herremans throughout the past couple of days to get acquainted with the position. Herremans and the Eagles other starting guard, Shawn Andrews, both switched from tackle to guard after they left college and were drafted by the Birds.

If the switch doesn’t work for Justice he would need to make a massive leap forward at tackle to prove his worth on this team and keep from being released or traded at the end of camp.

Klecko, despite moving to one of the most crowded positions on the Eagles roster, should be a member of this team when the Eagles break camp and head home for the regular season but no one’s job is safe in this sport.

In Other News:

It was announced this morning that Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb sat out practice and will likely miss the rest of the week due to shoulder tendinitis. Second year quarterback Kevin Kolb took McNabb’s spot with the first-team offense (just another sign that Kolb will more than likely be the backup to McNabb heading into the season instead of A.J. Feeley).

What about Lito? Figures that none of our wide receivers are really all that great so why not move one of our corner backs (who are supposedly WRs who can’t catch, which is why they play defense) to that position.

    Makes sense, right?
