The 2008 NBA draft is quickly approaching, and the Sixers would love to land a big man. It’s no secret that the Sixers covet a Power Forward, and although there is some potential in getting a potential free agent stud (Elton Brand), they are more likely to fill the spot through the draft this year. Quite frankly, even if they were to pick up a Power Forward through free agency, drafting a front court player would add needed depth at a position where the Sixers are seriously lacking.

There are several players that should be around when the Sixers choose 16th, but they are most likely going to have to trade up to get the player they covet, but are in a unique position of possibly trading down and still getting a player that could step in right away and contribute, at least defensively.

Over the weekend the Sixers brought in Donte Green from Syracuse. The 6-9 221 pounder is listed as a small …

Let me also take a moment to wish all the dads out there a Happy Father’s Day. I am doing what I do every Father’s Day, spending it watching baseball and golf with my dad, my hero. Later we’ll go get some pizza and maybe go to a movie I really want to see and he has absolutely no interest in. Father’s Day is a special day for my dad and I, as I never met my grandfather because he died when my dad was 26, over 35 years ago. My dad didn’t get to spend many Father’s Days with his father, so wen try to make the most of each one we have together, because you just never know how many you have left. My dad has always been my hero, and my best friend, and its a day I get to spend with him and try to let him know just how special he really is.

Father’s Day is also a special day for the …

In Donovan McNabb’s nine years as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, he’s definately gotten use to the local media and the microscope they put him under.  The former Pro-Bowl quarterback has had his ups and downs in Philadelphia, but after the attention he’s received over his latest injury, he’s had enough of the talk

“I do think it gets blown way out of proportion. With the injury, if you don’t say anything, then people think it’s bigger than what it is and if you do say something, some people still think you’re hiding something. It’s a no-win situation and I’ve been part of them for a long time. I’ve heard people say, ‘Donovan is fat,’ I’m out of shape and I’m too big. I just don’t get caught up in it…The shoulder is just tight. We did the right thing by making sure we were cautious with it and continuing to stretch and rehab. Everything is fine now.”

It’s good to hear Donovan’s shoulder …

It’s gone largely unnoticed because the Phillies are leading the NL East by four games and beating teams 20-2, but there’s a big problem at the top of the lineup. Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino, the Phillies 1-2 punch that is supposed to set the table for this explosive offense, have gone a combined 22-105 (.210) in the month of June. It’s kind of tough for the big guys to drive in runs if no one’s on base.

The Phils are tied for the fifth best record in baseball at the moment and are starting to pull away from their rivals in the NL East. But in the next week the Phillies will take on the top two teams in the AL (Red Sox & Angels) and how they perform is going to be important in either solidifying their place as one of the top teams in baseball or showing them to be a fraud. If the team is going to compete Rollins and Victorino are going …

Happy Fathers Day to all fathers out there.  In Fathers Day’s past I would wake up early and jump on a train, bound of Long Island to spend the day with my father.  Unfortunately this Father’s Day I’m relocated to a new city and an hour train ride is no longer an option.  So I’ll give him a call this afternoon.  We’ll discuss how our lives are and have a baseball debate.  He’s a die hard Mets fan, though I don’t hold it against him.

Major League Baseball is also doing what the can for Fathers Day.  They have paired up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), and will take the day to recognize a disease that effects 1 in 6 adult men.

Prior to each game today, Major League Baseball will recognize those who have been affected by the disease, as well as provide information at the ballpark to pass along to fans.  Bases will be graced with a blue ribbon, as well as players …

  • Quote of the Day

    • "Personally, from my experience, it's not fun. It's a frustrating thing, especially for a guy who runs, who needs his legs, who needs his speed. Hopefully, it's not as bad as mine.''
