Eagles‘ quarterback Donovan McNabb appeared Wednesday on Daily News Live on the Comcast Sportsnet Network and answered several questions ranging from the condition of his recent shoulder injury to his relationship with the fans.

McNabb responded to several questions about the condition of what has been identified as shoulder tendinitis. When asked by DNL host Michael Barkan how his should felt, McNabb responded “I’m fine, the shoulder’s fine. I think it was blown way out of proportion.” He went on to discuss the injury in more detail.

I think what happened was that when people heard shoulder tendinitis, they automatically thought oh no, not again. The perfect term for it is shoulder tightness, that’s all. It’s not soreness, it’s not a tear, it’s not a tendon problem or anything. It’s just tightened.

McNabb also addressed previous remarks he made that seemed to indicate that he wasn’t happy with the outcome of the Eagles’ draft this year.

Like I said, I was happy with what we did. And it’s really not for my likeness, the draft, anyway.

He commented that the Eagles historically never play their rookies much anyway, so regardless of who they pick, they aren’t impact players right away. That being said, he indicated that he was happy with the playmakers the Eagles have brought in so far.

I have some playmakers, guys that can come in and change the course of a game. Asante Samuels is one of those guys.

He would go on to name several other players that he believes will be able to contribute in significant ways this season, including the moving of Dan Klecko to noseguard, DeShawn Jackson on special teams, and Lorenzo Booker at fullback and on special teams. (Who, you might ask, are these guys? Not exactly in the same league as Samuels. McNabb is the consummate politician.)

In addition to issues with the draft and acquisition of “playmakers” this offseason, McNabb also showed that he is still paranoid about Kevin Kolb. During a lively discussion with Daily News sportswriter Paul Domowitch, McNabb responded to comments made by Domo about how he is being over sensitive to repeated calls to see Kolb take some snaps by saying that if they are calling for Kolb to be out there, then that means he (McNabb) is not. Domo responded by saying that that doesn’t mean they don’t want McNabb to be the quarterback or to be the guy taking the snaps, they just want to see what Kolb can do. It’s natural to want to see what any rookie or new player can do. “But I’m the franchise player,” retorted McNabb. Regardless of whatever BS he spews in response to questions and comments that he is paranoid about Kolb taking his job, he is clearly paranoid about Kolb taking his job.

Regardless whether he thinks the Eagles have made the right moves this offseason or whether Kevin Kolb is breathing down his neck, McNabb says he wants to retire as an Eagle and looks forward to bringing a Super Bowl to Philly, and that’s enough for me.

I’ve always believed in when you start something you have to finish it and I’ve said I wanted to bring a Super Bowl here to Philadelphia and I want to continue to work until I do that.

McNabb believes he has a great relationship with the fans, and I tend to agree.

I have a good relationship with the fans. You know, I think sometimes people just focus on the one side of what fans say. Nobody really focuses on the high percentage of people who are really supportive of everything that I do, who have been excited of the things that I have been able to do throughout my career here. And I look forward to good things happening in the future and I’d love to be a part of that. I’m going to continue to be here. I’ve said that and I look forward to bringing the excitement back for the fans this year.

Hey Donovan, so do we!

"It was definitely exciting. It probably felt like the Little League World Series players. You forget that you get paid to play the game. It's almost like we felt like little kids with the excitement in kind of playoff-type atmosphere, which is pretty normal when we play the Mets."
