The Flyers traded forward Vaclav Prospal back to the Tampa Bay Lightening Wednesday for a seventh round pick in this year’s NHL draft and a conditional draft pick in next year’s draft.

It appears that the Flyers traded Prospal back to the team that traded him to the Flyers this season because he did not have much interest in playing in Philly. “Vinny really didn’t express much of an interest in coming back and playing for us next season,” general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement released by the team. “His heart is elsewhere.”

And by elsewhere, it seems that Holmgren means Tampa Bay. It’s a shame. Flyers’ star Danny Briere was having a tough season until Prospal got here, and then he took off. Hopefully this will not affect Briere’s play next season.

Prospal had four goals and 10 assists in 18 games last season for the Flyers. He notched three goals and 10 assists in the playoffs.

It was all at once (the new delivery). It was kind of shaky a little bit at the beginning, but I guess that’s why the Minor Leagues are there.”
