It was a night of extra chances, as both the Flyers and Sixers needed overtime to pull off their losing streak ending victories.

The Sixers got themselves a little redemption against the Chicago Bulls, who beat them in Philadelphia on Sunday, overcoming a 14-point 76ers lead. It was the Sixers fourth loss in a row.

Tuesday night, however, the Sixers simply would not be denied. Led by the Andres, Iguodala and Miller, the Sixers held off a late charge by the Bulls to win 103-95 in overtime. Miller had 28 points to lead all scorers, including nine in OT, and  Iguodala added a hefty 25 of his own.

The Sixers have struggled this season with their consistency, at times looking like the top contender everyone thought they would be, and at other times looking like a lost, confused high school team. The Sixers lost a 14-point lead in both games against the Bulls, but they were able to buckle down Tuesday night and work through it for the win.

The Andres received 22 points and 14 rebounds from Elton Brand, who is one of the few players who has consistently looked strong all season. He has largely carried the load of this team through the first 17 games, but hopefully tonight was a breakout game for the struggling Iguodala. In addition to his 25 points, Iguodala pulled down nine rebounds and four assists.

The Sixers had a commanding 23-13 lead after the first quarter, in large part due to 14 combined points from Brand and Iguodala. They were up 30-14 at one point during the second quarter, but let most of that lead slip away by the end of the first half, going into the break up just 40-37.

Both teams battled through the third quarter, trading the lead five different times, with the Sixers coming out on top 67-61. They would lead the entire fourth quarter, until Tyrus Thomas tied it up at 90 with 17 seconds to go on a putback dunk following a blocked shot by Derek Rose. Miller missed a three point attempt as time ran out on regulation.

The Sixers took over the game in overtime, outscoring the Bulls 13-5, led by Miller’s nine.

This was an important win for the Sixers, as the Lakers come into town Wednesday. They follow that up with a meeting in Detroit against  Allen Iverson and the Pistons on Friday, as well as a home-and-home with Lebron James and the Cavaliers next week. A confidence boosting game will hopefully give them the leg up they need for this tough week ahead.
