The top pitchcing prospect in the Phillies’ farm system got a promotion Monday, as Kyle Drabek was sent to the team’s Double-A affiliate in Reading.

drabekDrabek, the Phillies’ first round pick in the 2006 draft, is 4-1 in 10 appearances (nine starts) for Single-A Clearwater with a 2.48 ERA. In 61 2/3 innings, he allowed 49 hits, 17 earned runs, 19 walks and 74 strikeouts.

In his last start on Friday, Drabek threw a complete game shutout, striking out nine while allowing just five hits and one walk. He takes the mound for the Reading Phillies on Thursday at home against Akron at 7:05 PM.

Drabek, just 21 years old, came into this season as the fifth highest rated prospect in the Phillies’ farm system by Baseball America.
