Unless you live under a rock, you know that Brett Favre wanted out of Green Bay. He got his wish late on Wednesday evening. The Packers traded Favre to the New York Jets for a conditional draft pick. The pick can be anywhere from a 4th rounder to a 1st rounder in the 2009 draft.

Favre held a press conference at the Cleveland Browns stadium with members of the Jets management on either side of him. He held up his number four jersey (still in green), answered some questions from the media, and pleaded to “move on”.

Favre also told reporters he was a little bit out of shape, and he looks forward to getting into training camp and meeting his new teammates. Favre commended Jets G.M. Mike Tennenbaum for his diligent work in luring him to NYC. Over the course of 24 hours, Favre contacted Tennenbaum, Tennenbaum convinced Favre he was a good fit with the Jets, and the Jets and the Packers made the trade.

How well do we really know the athletes that play for our Philly Sports Teams? Rumor mills and speculation run through the presses every day to shed light on certain players’ conduct and attitudes.  Ever since a certain someone (who goes by the initials T.O.) sat in front of his Jersey home and explained his stance on what number should go in front of all the zeros on his check, Philly sports media has been obsessed with getting into the psyche of players instead of focusing on the player themselves.

With Shawn Andrews absent from all of training camp thus far, there have been rumors of him being unhappy with his contract, him being too lazy/overweight to compete in camp, or that he was afraid of getting injured and losing out on incentives for this season. All of this was false. All of this shed a negative light on Andrews absence without considering Andrews as a human being with problems just like the rest of us.
